At about 3am this morning I was heading outside for a smoke when I noticed the moon was not quiet itself. Had a sort of red glow to it with a small segment still white and getting whiter. I was not aware of a forthcoming lunar eclipse since I hadn’t seen anything on the news beforehand.
Anyway, I was discussing this with someone later on, along the lines of, “Hey, I saw a lunar eclipse this morning”.
To which they replied, “Wow, I didn’t know there was one expected this morning. So you couldn’t see the moon because the sun was in the way eh?”.
I very politely pointed out that if that was the case, then 3am this morning it would have been very erm..bright?
They sort of blushed and scuttled off to a different room hoping I wouldn’t make too much of an issue.
But I did promise that I would not reveal who it was to save them from embarrassment, and rightly so. I am not a mean and vindictive sort of person who enjoys piling ridicule upon someone, and after 15 years of marriage, it was the least I could do for her.
